Orthodontics in Barrie

Orthodontics is a type of dentistry that specializes in correcting misalignments in the teeth and/or jaw, also known as malocclusions. Malocclusions can lead to many issues, including struggles with chewing and speaking, as well as self-consciousness. By gently shifting teeth and jaws into proper alignment, orthodontists can correct these issues.

We are pleased to have a dedicated orthodontist in the Mapleview Family Dentistry team. With their expertise and advanced techniques, our orthodontist offers a variety of treatments to help our patients with teeth alignment and bite correction.

Braces: A Common Orthodontics Treatment

Braces are one of the most common orthodontics treatments. To implement braces, orthodontists attach small brackets to patients’ teeth, and connect these brackets with wires. The wires gently apply pressure to the teeth, moving them into the correct position over time. Braces are very versatile, and are used to treat crooked teeth, overbites, underbites, and gaps between teeth. Our practice offers both traditional metal braces and clear braces, which are less noticeable.

Clear Aligners: An Alternative to Braces

Clear aligners are clear trays customized to fit over your unique teeth. Like braces, they apply gentle pressure to your teeth to guide them into the proper position. However, unlike braces, they can be removed while you eat, brush, and floss. They are also virtually invisible. Book an appointment with our orthodontist to determine if clear aligners are right for you.

Other Orthodontics Options

Braces and aligners can shift the position of your teeth, but retainers are important to keep (or retain) these changes after your braces or aligners come off. Retainers can be permanent or removable, depending on your dental needs.
